HELP! This is Jennifer Kabza - something has come up and I could really use your help. This Thursday, Nov. 29, Hugh Mercer Elementary PTA is hosting a Math/Science Night at the school. Our high school honor society volunteers fell through at the last minute, and we are desperate to find a few helpers for the evening from 6:15 – 7:45. I would be greatly appreciative if the UMW Women's Rugby team would be willing to help us out!
The work is simple: show up by 6:15 (or earlier if you want!) and assist kindergarten, first, and second graders and their families at a science experiment station. Tables will be set up with posted directions and materials. You are simply there to be a constant - help with anyone at your table who needs it and refill supplies on the table from a box below the table. Families will rotate on 5 - 15 min. periods, starting at 6:30 and ending at 7:45.
The principals at Hugh Mercer are willing to sign any paperwork you may have in regards to volunteer hours for service clubs, education majors, etc.
The kids are really looking forward to this. You will see Kris and Kyle, Emily, and Lauren. Many professors’ kids go to HM, including Dolby, Kolar, McBride, Sharpless, etc. You will see them and their families also.
I am begging for five (or more if possible) of you to help at the science stations. It will be great fun to work with the little ones and watch them get messy. Of course, I must remind you there is no bribing the coach for laxing off on your fitness regime and practice schedule if you volunteer, but his wife has her ways of convincing him to support the cause ! Please contact me directly by Wed. night to volunteer - Thanks again to any of you who can find an hour and a half of time to help. GO WASH!
