MARFU,
Below please find the tryout schedule for 2011 MARFU Collegiate All-stars (women). Thank you to Philly WRFC, Chesapeake WRFC, and JMU WRFC, for offering to host the camps.
The first event will be an invitational camp against the #6 ranked women's premier league team, DC Furies. For development purposes, the invite list is primarily composed of players from the LAU squads.
All players are encouraged to attend all the regular camps and will be selected from those. Players will need to attend at minimum one of the regional camps and the final camp to be considered. Our plan is currently to take a competing side and a developmental side to Pittsburgh for NASCs, finances permitting. The more the players can attend, the better. We have a very tough gameplan in mind for NASCs and players may need time to work it out. The final camp will be by invite only and based on LAUs, Furies game, and North & South camps.
Invitational vs DC April 16 (probably in Frederick, MD)
North camp May 8 (Edgely field, Philly)
South camp May 15 (JMU)
Final camp May 21st-22nd (Bocek field, Baltimore)
NASCs June 8-12 (Pittsburgh, PA)
I realize there may be conflicts on dates, but the collegiate schedule is VERY challenging if you want names out 2 weeks before NASCs. MARFU could easily be #1 at the representative level. For that to happen again, we need the very best players competing at representative levels. NASCs is a selection venue for US WNT and an excellent place for some of our less seen athletes to compete in front of the US coaches, as well.
Finally, regarding the change from U23 to Collegiate, this is the statement from USA: "This change also supports the new Women’s High Performance structure, which early in 2011 will assess the top 100 – 120 athletes across the country age 20 and over and name 20 - 25 athletes each into the Collegiate Elite Academy and the Collegiate Development Academy."
I will be posting info to the MARFU U23 facebook page, including fitness programs.
Cheers,
Kate Nichol, MARFU Collegiate All-stars Coach
