There are a number of items that need to be handled heading into the season. Read the following carefully.

Player Roster
If you are considering playing this semester, I need an email from you. Please send email to kabza@aol.com. I am being required to use a roster tracking system UMW uses and I need to submit players names to the roster. Sending me your names does not obligate you to play. If later you choose not to play, I can easily remove your name from the list. You cannot play until your name appears on the school's Player Roster.
Paperwork
Paperwork, like last year, must be signed. You name must appear on the Player Roster before your paperwork can be accepted.
Concussion Testing
If you are considering playing rugby this year, you must take the concussion test. The test is different from the previous and therefore ALL UMW athletes are required to retake the test. You must be on the Player Roster before take the concussion test. You must take the concussion test before practicing or playing. The school is ready to start accepting student athletes for concussion testing.
Sickle Cell Trait Testing
The school is asking that student athletes be tested for the sickle cell trait. I have read that most states test for that at birth. Please find out if you have been tested; if so, I do NOT need the results. Let me know in your "Player Roster" email if you have been tested or not.
Club Carnival
The school changed the info online and the Club Carnival is no longer Tue Aug 30.
I received an email stating the date is now Wed Aug 31 from 4pm to 6pm.
Start of Season
This is the tentative start of the season:
Tue Aug 30 8:00 pm - Mandatory meeting for returning players only, location Combs 139.
Wed Aug 31 4:00 - 6:00 p.m - Unofficial Practice
Fri Sep 31 4:00 - 6:00 p.m - General Interest Meeting at the rugby field, we will welcome rookies, discuss rugby, provide some demos, then practice.
Mandatory Meeting
Regarding the Tue Aug 8:00 pm meeting - attendance is NOT optional. In the past we have asked for the returners to meet and we get about 50% attendance. If you are interested in playing, BE AT THE MEETING. You have plenty of heads up to adjust your schedules accordingly. We need to have a candid and honest discussion about the team moving forward.
