On Sunday, February 10th at JMU there will be a scrummaging clinic. It's focused on hook, flanks, and 8, but all forwards are encouraged to go. We also have the option of bringing our entire pack and working together (which I feel that we should do). Is anyone interested?

Don't forget the clinic is this Sunday at JMU. Registration is at 9:45 and the clinic will run from 10 to 2. I plan to go and can give rides. They want $5 from each attendee, but I'll cover that for anyone who goes. I hope many of you will go. Taking advantage of opportunities like this will help you improve much faster. We may or may not adopt all the techniques taught, but it will certainly help those of you trying out for MARFU later this spring.
The coaches want some idea of how many people to expect. If you plan to go, post it here and I'll send the total number to the coaches. If you want to ride with me, post that as well. We can also talk Wednesday at practice.
The text of Lisa Rosen's announcement is below. Even though she mentions specific roles for hookers, flankers, and #8s, don't forget the real power in the scrum comes from the props and second rows. They will get good info on how to maximize drive power as well. -------------------------------------------------------------- The MARFU U23 Head Coach, Lisa Rosen, will be conducting a scrummaging clinic on Sunday, Feb 10th at James Madison University. Registration will be at 9:45 AM; clinic will start at 10 AM and go until 2 PM. This clinic will be open to all female U23 and U19 players. This scrummaging clinic will cover a variety of areas - core strength, balance, agility and strength for scrummaging, specific roles of the 8,. 2, and flankers, pre-engagement setup, engagement and post engagement techniques, application of pressure, and secondary drive, Groups that advance quickly will have an opportunity to work on wheeling and channeling techniques. Coaches and player-coaches are strongly encouraged to attend.
The methods we'll be using and the communication system introduced is the same that we will be using with the MARFU U23 side, so players with those aspirations (1-8) will benefit tremendously from attendance.
Players are asked to donate $5 each to cover the cost of travel/equipment - if this is an issue please contact Lisa directly. If a team brings their entire pack and numbers permit, we will be happy to train you as a unit.
Assisting Lisa will be several USA Women's National Team pool players and MARFU Senior Select Side players, all fully trained in the techniques we will be teaching you.

Okay, just kidding, turns out I probs won't be there this weekend, seeing as how I am poor and have massive amounts of work to do. Wish I could go though...sounds like a sweet opportunity.
