VRU State Champions,
I have been a supporter of your team since 2002, when my daughter Paula was the starting Prop, and I've attended approximately 90% of your home games over the past seven years.
However, yesterday's match against a strong William & Mary team ranks near the top of all the matches I've seen you play. Your performance yesterday reminded me of some of the matches in 2005 & 2006 when UMW won the VRU State Championship.
Your match had everything: tries, penalty goals, drop-kick goals, a great defense, and over-all team cohesive play. It was clear from the very beginning that you wanted to win this match and you came prepared & motivated.
With the large group of talented players returning next semester, I think you will have an excellent opportunity to be ranked among the top 10 Division Two teams in the country. And if you continue to play at this level, you should also earn a spot in the Final Eight in Florida next Spring.
And just think, you've continued this Mary Wash tradition of playing well and winning key matches during the 25th Anniversary of the founding of UMW Women's Rugby Team. How timely & appropriate.
Congratulation # 1 Team - enjoy the victory!!
Sincerely,
Sterling Giannotti
