All, I need some feedback. We can save about $100 per person by flying into Denver and taking a charter bus to Albuquerque. The bus will stay with us the whole weekend and then drive us back up to Denver on the 20th.
The drawback is the bus ride is about 6 1/2 hours long. There is a direct fly on the 17th into Denver from Dulles, arriving in Denver at 7:48 am. We would get into Albuquerque in the mid-afternoon.
On the 20th, the Div 2 women play at 10:00. So, we would be back in Denver between 7:00 and 8:00. The flight out of Denver is at 12:51 p.m. on Apr 21.
So, what are your thoughts? Are you willing to sit in a bus to save $100 per person?

Does this bus have movie playing capabilities? It's an extremely important factor, Kris.

I agree with Marissa, whatever's cheapest. Also, what time/day does this flight leave from Dulles?

my biggest preference is to go on wed because that was even cheaper am I right? plus more time to get used to the no oxygyn. but this is my second fav option. just know i'll be a little loopy on the Dramamine.

what time is the flight out of Dulles to Denver on Thursday morning? and if we leave on Sunday night we're on a bus for 6 1/2 hrs, and then we're just hanging out in the airport for another 12 hours until our flight back to Dulles? are the 'cheap' United tickets for Wed. night out of the question? only because I think that I might prefer cheap plane tickets over a bus and very little sleep on Wednesday into Thursday?? I don't know, just thinking of the options...I'm all about cutting costs, but I'm kind of also all about winning.. and I think being well rested, with the higher altitude, and if we can get a cheap night flight on Wed, its something to think about...

I agree with Mary and Kate. Wholeheartedly. I think the cheaper flight on Wednesday would be better. The explanation about Sunday's activities is a little unclear. Did you mean that the flight back is at 12:51AM, not PM? Because then what would we do from 7 or 8pm on Sunday until noon the next day?

I am all for saving money but I'm not sure I am up for hanging out in an airport over night for 12+ hours. Are we staying the night in Denver as well??

This is not definte, but the schedule would look something like:
Thurs April 17 Depart Dulles 6:00 a.m. Arrive Denver 7:48 a.m. Get on a bus. Arrive Albuquerque mid-afternoon
Friday April 18 Albuquerque
Saturday April 19 11:30 a.m. - Match
Sunday April 20 10:00 a.m. - Match Get on a bus Arrive Denver between 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Monday April 21 Get up Hang out Leave for the airport Depart Denver 12:51 p.m. - for most of us, that means 51 minutes after noon, I am not sure what it means in Trompy's world Arrive Dulles 6:10 pm
Does that help? I know people have "preferences". But nothing is set. I am trying many, many options. That one is a little different, but has the potential to save us about $100 each.

I'm still unclear about what happens after we get off the bus on Sunday at 7 or 8pm.
"Get up" from what? Are we getting another hotel for the night or sleeping on the streets?

Anything for a shorter flight. I absolutely -hate- flying. hate.hate.hate it. Saving money is just a bonus for me as far as the flight/bus situation is concerned.
